ABOUT ME
I have worked for over a decade as an academic and landscape architect. I am also pursuing a Ph.D. at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, in the Faculty of Planning, where my research focuses on analyzing the impact of urban development on river ecology. My educational background is a Master's in Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor's in Architecture from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. I also hold the position of Honorary Secretary for ISOLA Gujarat Chapter (2024-2026) and am enjoying this role. This allowed me to engage with landscape architects across the country. Recently, in 2024, I was appointed to the committee of an international research body named ISVS (International Seminar on Vernacular Settlements).
I am a visiting faculty member at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and Navrachana University, Vadodara. My teaching repertoire spans various subjects, including designing waterfronts along rivers and lakes, documenting and representing architecture history and developing an architecture portfolio, cursing pedagogy, and developing interactive course development for landscape and environment (primarily for architecture and urban design programs). I also guide architecture, design, and urban design students in their design and research thesis.
My academic contributions extend beyond the classroom. I have presented my research at international conferences, contributed to peer-reviewed journals, and actively participated in workshops, including those focused on visual narratives and mapping urban biodiversity. I have conducted winter workshops at - CEPT University (Summer Winter school - SWS), NID (Open Elective – OE), Ahmedabad University (Independent study program – ISP), Navarchana University (KHOJ), and so on. I have also been working with students from Navrachana International School and some of the schools from Jamshedpur to engage their interest in mapping natural biodiversity and enhancing their understanding of urban ecology. These interactions have led to them becoming sensitivities individuals – future generations.
In addition to my academic and professional pursuits, I am a passionate artist. I have worked on murals, still-life paintings, and urban sketching. Travel journaling is one of my core interests when it comes to the art of storytelling. My paintings have been exhibited at various prestigious platforms, including the All India Camel Art Foundation National Exhibition, at Nehru Art Centre, Mumbai, and Gujarat Lalit Kala Academy State Art Exhibition, Ahmedabad. I also work with Sahajeevan Trust, Bhuj, as a consultant on their Living Lightly exhibition, where I work on developing visual narratives on the changing landscapes of Nomadic pastoralists and their movements across the country.
My work focuses on integrating design, ecological, and socio-cultural narratives. Through continuous research, pedagogical activities, and innovative initiatives, I aim to continue developing relationships with natural systems in urban environments and devise design methods for sustainable living and safeguarding nature for posterity.
